Toyota Corolla hatchback brings style, functionality

2019 Toyota Corolla iM release date

Introducing the all-new 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback! Originally named the Corolla iM, Toyota has since simplified the model’s name for 2019. It’s built on a new TNGA platform and uses a sport-tuned suspension for a dynamic driving experience. Best of all, it’s expected to be released this summer.

From the outside, the 2019 Corolla hatchback is sleek and sophisticated with a low stance and athletic styling. All models receive LED headlamps and taillights, chrome rear diffuser and alloy wheels. Take a step inside the cabin and you will find a spacious interior with a wide variety of high-tech features. Standard equipment includes an Entune 3.0 audio system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi Connect, six speakers, Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay and much more.

All models are also standard with the second generation of Toyota Safety Sense which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed-range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beam, lane tracing assist and road sign assist.

2019 vs. 2018 Corolla hatchback

Overall, the hatchback is slightly lower, wider and longer than the sedan model. The hatchback model is also built using a different platform, one which is used on the Camry. Unlike the 2018 Corolla iM, the 2019 hatchback is also available with Apple CarPlay. The Corolla hatchback is also only available in two trims, including the SE and XSE. Engine options are also very different. For 2019 the Corolla hatchback receives the 2019 RAV4’s all-new Dynamic Force 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual or a CVT.

With the slight increase in size how much of a difference will that make on the 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback’s overall cargo space? That’s unclear at this point. The 2018 Corolla hatchback has up to 90.4 cu.ft. of passenger volume and 20.8 cu.ft. of cargo volume. We expect Toyota to release more information on the new hatchback as the release date nears.

Stay tuned for more details on the 2019 Corolla hatchback as more updates are released from Toyota in the coming months. From all of us at Le Mieux & Son Toyota, thank you for reading!
