The term “glamping” might bring forth an image of Instagram-worthy campsites. The good news is you don’t have to be a social media influencer to snag a beautiful scenic getaway in the woods. Most importantly, it doesn’t have to break the bank. From luxurious tents in the woods to rustic cottages, the Green Bay area has a variety of incredible camping opportunities that are more than just a pop-up tent. Best of all, many of these campsites and lodging areas are in or near state parks.
The search for the perfect cheese curds
As every Wisconsinite knows, cheese curds are serious business. Most restaurants and bars have cheese curds, but few can claim the title of having the “best” curds in the area. Whether you’re all about deep-fried or fresh curds, the search for the finest curds is a noble endeavor. Titletown Brewery, Hinterland Brewery, The Rite Place, The Abbey and others are known for having delicious fried cheese curds. For those who prefer the squeaky (fresh) variety, Scray Cheese, Renard’s Cheese, Ron’s Cheese and many other local cheese factories are worth a visit.
Go on a kayaking adventure
Explore Wisconsin’s waterways with a kayaking tour near Green Bay. There are a variety of places where you can rent a kayak or canoe and many businesses also offer tours. Whether you want to explore beautiful waterways along the Door County or Brown County state park for a full day or just want to go on a short kayaking trip for an hour or so, the area has many great options to choose from.
Make a list and make your dreams happen
If you don’t remember anything else away from this blog, take this: Make a list of all the things you have always wanted to do during the summer in Wisconsin. Then choose one thing and make it happen. For example, let’s say you have always wanted to drive up to the Apostle Islands in northern Wisconsin, but won’t be able to make the trip this year. Consider visiting a different state park (preferably one you have never been to) where you can do the activities you want to do (swimming, hiking, etc.) If you’re looking for a park with impressive land formations and swimming, consider Parfrey’s Glen or Pewit’s Nest near Baraboo, WI.
