Things to do when trick-or-treating is canceled in Wisconsin 2019

We’re not sure if this snow is a trick or a treat, but it sure is here and there is a lot of it! Halloween has arrived and so has the…snow? This Halloween is proving to be a very interesting one indeed! In fact, some cities in Wisconsin, including the City of Kenosha and Village and town of Somers have postponed trick-or-treating until Nov. 2 until 1-4 p.m. While there is currently no word yet on any changes to trick-or-treating for the Green Bay area, what are some things you and your family can do if trick-or-treating is canceled? How about if you just want to stay in? We have some ideas here.

Throw a game night!

Pick out any card or board game (or puzzle), put on some Halloween-themed music and let the fun begin! Another fun alternative is to do a trivia night where children guess the answers to Halloween-themed questions.

Have a Halloween-themed fashion show

Each child shows off his or her costume to the “audience” and says a little bit about it. Then, each person in the audience gets to share a kind compliment about the costume. This can be a great way for children to practice kindness and to learn how to articulate their thoughts and experiences.

Watch a Halloween movie

There are a variety of fun, child-friendly films available. Hocus Pocus, Coraline, Hotel Transylvania, ParaNorman and Casper are some of the many options out there.
