2018 Toyota Highlander XLE vs. Limited

The Highlander is one of a few crossover SUV options in the Toyota lineup. What sets it apart from the RAV4 and C-HR is that it has three rows of seating, a variety of different premium features and up to 6,000 pounds of towing capability on models with a V6 engine. In fact, the Highlander has seating for 7-8 and up to 83.7 cu.ft. of cargo space depending on the trim.

At the heart of the Highlander is a 185-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 295-hp, 3.5-liter V6 that is standard on all but the base model. There are also six trim options available, including the LE, LE Plus, XLE, SE, Limited and Limited Platinum. If you're looking for a model equipped with leather upholstery, a sunroof and heated front seats, we recommend the 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE or Limited.

Both models share a variety of standard features and technologies, including keyless entry and ignition, blind-spot monitoring, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, second-row window sunshades, a 110-volt power outlet, Driver Easy speak technology and a navigation system. The XLE and Limited models are both standard with the 295-hp, 3.5-liter V6 and are available with all-wheel drive.

Perhaps the most significant difference between the two models are the features and seating options available. The eight-seat 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE is available with the option to switch the second row of seats to captain's chairs, which reduces the seat number to seven. The Limited trim, on the other hand, is only available in a seven-seat configuration with the captain's chairs.

Moving up to the Limited trim carries over all the features from the XLE and adds a variety of technologies not available on that model. These include LED running lights and rear parking sensors for the rearview camera for added functionality. There is also a 12-speaker JBL audio system, a rear cargo cover, heated and ventilated front seats, driver-seat memory settings and much more.
